Revocation must stop future licensed generation. It does not make every earlier event disappear, which is why the status change and the treatment of existing outputs both need durable records.

Three different events

Stopping new generation and removing every lawfully produced output are different actions. The signed agreement should state whether existing releases may continue to run, must be withdrawn on a schedule, or need another treatment.

The U.S. Copyright Office’s digital replicas report recommends that expiry of a digital-replica licence bar new uses while recognizing that previously produced works may have continuing distribution interests. That is a policy recommendation, not a universal legal rule.
